aiREDACT -- Redacting Privacy
Information from Public Documents
State governments have become concerned with identity theft, recognizing that public
records frequently contain privacy information – social security numbers, bank account
numbers, driver’s licenses to name a few. Florida has led the country with legislation
requiring that privacy information available on internet-accessible records be redacted.
Many other states have similar pending legislation.
aiREDACT, launched in 2005, provides
a cost-effective solution to the regulatory requirements. The aiSTART technology provides a significant platform
on which the aiREDACT product
and work flow was developed.
Candidates for redaction are identified both by the content of the text to be redacted
and by the context which often surrounds the privacy information.
aiREDACT also touts a new redaction workbench managing
a state-of-the-art triage methodology to address hard-to-find and handwritten redactable regions.
Over the past two years, aiREDACT
has analyzed hundreds of millions of pages of unstructured backfile documents, identifying
and blackening privacy information. Going-forward redaction is now integrated into
the document processing workflow for several governmental entities.
aiSTART technology provides the enabling disciplined
starting point.
